So you lost your job and you want to make additional income?
Your a Stay At Home Mom and looking for a playmate for your child?
You are looking for a way to be self employed while keeping your overhead low and utilizing your wonderful skills as a mother, motivator, and caregiver by opening your home to others?
What every your reason creating/starting a home daycare is an option worth considering. I have to start by saying that it is not for the faint of heart. Especially if you are treating as a business. But it has more perks than minuses, in my opinion. There are many things to consider and investigate as you begin this journey.
What are the state regulations in your area?
What are the rules of your county/city?
Does your subdivision allow it, if you live in one?
Is there enough space in your home?
How will you advertise?
The above are just a few to consider before investing in this venture.
When we as a family decided to take this on as a career choice, I took 4 months getting my space and plan together. While the actual daycare space created the visual change in our home it was actually the behind the scene items that took the longest to prepare. The contract, pricing, billing, curriculum, and tracking documentation and many more things that took quite some time for me to get just right. Actually these are things that I continue to tweak.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the career change. My clients are now pint size people who show love and affection daily. They get excited about baking, crafting, and painting. Hate nap time, and being told no. But I would not change it for anything.
